A seminar on ‘Pursuing Higher Education Abroad’ was organised at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology on 18th April, 2007. The seminar saw a gathering of more than 150 NSIT-ians, aspiring to make a mark in MS/MBA in foreign universities of high international repute.

Mr. Ishan Gupta, alumnus of NSIT and currently enrolled in Stanford B-School (at a very young age of 23) kindly consented to clear many doubts regarding the application procedure to foreign universities. He encouraged the students, to have a spark to exceed while being bold and brave enough to set out to revolutionize the current redumentary state of affairs in India. In his second year of Bachelor of Engineering degree, then aged 21, Mr. Gupta co-founded Appin Knowledge Solutions. He also co-authored the book “Make the Move: Demystifying Entrepreneurship”. Mr. Gupta compared and contrasted the education of US, UK and Singapore. A lot of light was thrown on how to prepare a strong application for the MBA course. Many doubts regarding Work Experience requirements for pursuing MBA abroad were also tackled. The session was wound up with discussions about the financial loans and scholarships available for students. It was indeed a wholesome treat for the future Tatas, Ambanis, Narayan Murthies of India.

4th year NSIT students Gunjan Agarwal, admitted to MIT for MS in Nanotechnology and Micro Electro Mechanical Systems and Akshat Gupta admitted to Stanford for MS in Management Sciences and Engineering cleared doubts regarding the application procedure for MS courses abroad. They talked about the various projects that need to be undertaken during undergraduate studies. They threw light on the right time to give GRE and also laid emphasis to have keen interest in whatever an individual wish to continue with.

All the three brought forth the importance of being honest and truthful in their dealings.

This interactive, enlightening session benefitted all students. The students left with a clear sense of direction with a better perspective about the MS/MBA application procedure.

This educative tet-e-tet was brought into reality by the team work of CSI-NSIT Students Branch and the support of Dr. M.P.S. Bhatia, Faculty Mentor.
